a tisket, a tasket
January 16, 2021odds and ends
February 19, 2021Hello all, Mary Ellen here.
I had my checkup from my first cataract surgery and am good to go for the second eye. Had the COVID test yesterday. Second eye is scheduled for this coming Monday. Will be glad to be done with this, although I must say it’s been easy. I’m enjoying be treated like a princess–not allowed to lift anything over 10 pounds, nor to bend over–for 3 more weeks. I am allowed to sew, read, embroider, quilt, knit. Pretty good deal.
I’m looking for an easy “something” to make for my nieces for Valentine’s Day. I’m thinking a mug rug would be good. I’ll share these links to patterns I’ve found so far.

Heading up to the scrap bins to find pink/red valentine fabrics.
Do you like to foundation paper piece? Why or why not?

I do not like to paper piece. I am more of a improvisational quilter and I dislike the fussy stuff. But thanks for the patterns.
I really enjoy paper piecing. I have also been making Valentine mug rugs! I am going to try some of your patterns! Glad your surgery went well!
I don’t mind paper piecing. It can be a bit fussy, but….No valentines for me. I have two baby quilts to get out–April and June. Started early because I have another project that was driving me around the bend! Good news on your cataract surgery. Hope the next one goes as well!
I love doing paper piecing because of the accuracy. It’s especially useful on intricate blocks with small pieces. I don’t really like peeling the paper off.
Like Jean, I have some baby quilts to make–three greatgrandbabies coming this year. That will make 10 greats. Hard to keep up. But, I do love babies.
I do enjoy paper piecing, and this is a small project I think I can do.
Thank you,
Sharon
I enjoy paper piecing! It allows me to work on small sections accurately!
Thanks for the patterns.
