a tisket, a tasket

Hello everyone, Mary Ellen here.

It was so nice to see many of you at the museum on Thursday. I hope you are enjoying your prizes. Since we will not be having a February “in-person” meeting, I will pick another day in February for museum pickup for those of you who did not get your prizes. If you would prefer some other way to get your prize, contact me and we’ll see if we can work something out.

In my last post I talked about a patchwork basket I am making for favors for an upcoming shower. It is using up fabric and bstting scraps both. Here is the link to the pattern (Click here. ) and here’s a photo of one I’ve finished. It measures about 3 x 4 x 5.5.

Fill in the blank: When I sit down to piece, I always have _________ on my table.

You won’t be hearing from me for a bit; I’m having cataract surgery on Monday, They tell me it’s a quick recovery–I hope so!

Good luck! Have several friends who had it done and healed fast. One guy even told me, that white is white now and not yellow anymore.
Have a gentle driver on your way home.

I always have a seam ripper on my table.

I had the surgery in both eyes one week apart several years ago. Quick recovery and much improvement. I hadn’t had problems with color, but my vision was much improved.
I guess I missed the prize pickup. Just let me know next date.
I always have pincushion and scissors on the sewing table.

When piecing I always have pins
Thanks for my prize I love it

Good luck with your surgery Mary Ellen. I know many people who have been very happy with the results. I have a small cataract which apparently isn’t ready to be removed yet. As for piecing, I always have pins, a seam ripper and my travel iron on a wonderful wool pad next to my sewing machine.

I had surgery in November, 1 week apart! It is so nice to be able to see again. I always have my thread clipper and pins on my sewing table! Good luck with your surgery!

When I sit down to piece, I always have my favorite small scissors on my table.
As to cataract surgery, I had both done in October. I noticed a big color difference but now I also see all the dust & dirt in the house!
Guess it is good to see all that so I can clean it up.

I love the basket. What a great idea for a shower. Best of luck with your surgery. My husband had both of his eyes done in 2019 and it was quick and easy as everyone else has said. You’ll be back in the swing of things (such as they are) in no time.

  12. Mary says:

I always have many projects on my table.
You will be surprized when the bandage is removed as the world will be much brighter. You may question why you bought some of your fabric as you will be seeing true colors again.

I always have my little gold stork scissors to clip threads and my thread caddy waste to catch the clipped threads.
    Cute basket !!

Cute basket! When sewing I always have small scissors, pins, and seam ripper nearby.

Good luck with the surgery! I had it several years ago and really marveled at being able to see Individual leaves on distant trees after healing, w/o glasses. Correction of lifelong myopia and astigmatism.

I always seem to have a cat on my table. You met Sam n the latest video. He likes to be involved.
Good luck with the surgery. Lots of people say they can see colors so much better.

  17. Mickey Wittliff says:

I have a really old Whitman’s Chocolate metal box that contains anything I could need. Also, I had my cataracts done almost 20 yrs ago. I went out for lunch after and drove back to the surgeon the next day. You’ll be ok.

  18. Theresa utz says:

I have cataracts that are not ready to be removed. But everybody here says their surgery really went well. So when it happens I hope it does. So, I will pray that your surgery goes very well too.
I always have my cutting board, ruler and cutter on the table ready for whenever I need it. I never know when I’m going to have an inspiration. Matt material is always handy as well.
