December 18, 2020holiday wishes
December 23, 2020Hello all, Mary Ellen here.
I got this photo from Linda H, one of our guild members. I mentioned crafting with thread spools in a recent blog post. So many of you remember the 4 nails in the end of the spool and making yarn ropes. Lots of other fun craftiness was had at this time of year with spools (and wooden peg style clothespins). I still really appreciate gifts that someone has made, rather than bought. Do kids still make their gifts for mom and dad in school?
Here’s Linda’s photo of her spool creche to share.
I’m finishing up the holiday cooking today and tomorrow–candy rather than cookies. I only made 3 kinds of cookies for this year–no get-togethers at which to share them, and I have very little willpower if they’re kept here!

Cute idea! I remember the yards of yarn we used with the spools.
That is a real keeper. Thank you Linda for sharing
Mary Ellen, thank you for keeping the blog going, I look forward to reading what everyone is working on. Hopefully this new year will be better and we’ll have meetings again

Thank you everyone. I made this just before I was married, 57 years ago. It has held up well. And, Mary Ellen, and all, my children ( who are not children) still make gifts for us. They have been doing it since they were about 5 years old. Love this tradition.
Oh, I love these! They’re so wonderfully creative! My mom did something similar when she was a girl — perhaps it’s time to bring that tradition back.
Hi Katie, Have I met you before? I will admit to senior memory issues sometimes. Looking forward to meeting you at a guild meeting is we can ever get back together! Go Yellow!
