what are you up to these days?

Hello all, Mary Ellen here.

Just finished putting together a jigsaw puzzle, an activity I haven’t done in ages. It was a bit of a risk since I have a puppy here and the puzzle was a borrowed one. But victory…no eaten pieces! I’ve also been doing much more reading than usual for me. I’m getting the congratulatory Kindle messages now.

What are you doing to pass the hours? Don’t spend the entire day at the sewing machine…your back and neck will talk to you about that. Learn how to use Facetime or Zoom or Skype so you can practice physical distancing but still keep socially close to the people important to you.

I’ve noticed while walking the pup lately that folks we come upon are much more sociable than in the recent past. Instead of just a nod or smile, they offer a comment or two or at least a friendly “Good Morning!”. I’m hoping that cordiality will continue when we get back to “normal”.

I read a short meme on Facebook to the effect that while we are waiting to get back to normal, we should give some thought to what we really want to get back to. Hmmm.

Happy Stitching, stay strong.

I made a baby quilt for our 5th great grandchild. Now I am back to longarming customer quilts.

I have been sewing a few masks, baking an apple pie for my Grandson, knitting a Prayer Shawl and a lot of walking to the front window to see what is going on in the outside world. I have also taken a walk around the block on nice days.
    Keep Healthy everyone.

Since I still work and have now been laid off, I use the time to finish UFO’s and try new techniques for my art quilts. I alternate between machine sewing, hand sewing and hand crafts. I am having a great time. For me, it is like a quilt retreat with no phones. Only downside is I still have to make dinner and clean the house.

I too have been sewing masks. They take me a lot longer than the demos on video. As a guild we’re doing very well. As of yesterday we have delivered over 200. Beside that I’ve been reading a lot, not unusual for me, and have also talked on the phone a lot.

Finally got around to finishing a log cabin star quilt that has been hanging around since 2010. Good thing I have a plentiful stash!
