Hello all, Mary Ellen here.
It’s been an extra long winter, it seems. I need some color to mix with the drab grayness that is left after the snow melts, but before things begin to green up. I’ll be taking a trip to the Botanical Gardens for the Easter flower show soon. Have you ever gone? I highly recommend it!
Not too long ago I went to the Botanical Gardens’ orchid show. Here are a couple of the photos I took. Think about how they might inspire some aspect of your quilting. For me one inspires a double Dresden plate, and the other a color combination I might not have thought about.
I will be drawing another winner for a blog commenting prize at our guild birthday party this Thursday evening. In order to enter (remember you can enter multiple times, every comment gets you another entry) for this week’s drawing, your last chances are today or tomorrow.

Love the flowers. All the different colors blend so well – a real inspiration when pulling fabrics for a new quilt. Eagerly awaiting the carrot, too so I can do the bunny runner.
Hi Joann, I’ve just added the link to the carrot block in a separate post.
Those flowers are perfect blend of subtle and regal colors. I can see them used in a variety of mediums.
