What are your values?
November 11, 2014Where has the time gone?
December 15, 2014Hello all, Mary Ellen here.
I hope you are safe and warm and buried only in quilts. What a storm some of us have been through! It’s not bad here in my neighborhood, but one doesn’t need to go far from here to either find an other-worldly scape, or to be turned back by driving bans.
What have you been doing to keep busy these past few days? I hope you got to sit at your machine or in your favorite chair for at least a bit of stitching time . I got a wall hanging cut and pieced and have begun the layering and pinning process. It’s a modern take on the old favorite drunkard’s path block. Love it. There are blocks of bright colors in the midst of white sashings. Not sure what color of thread to use in machine quilting it. I recently finished an online machine quilting class taught by Jacquie Gehring and want to use one of her ideas for the stitch pattern.
I also have been getting some knitting of Christmas presents done while I listen to the reports about our weather on the television. Fingerless gloves are going to be given to a few on my gift list.
What have you accomplished? I hope if you were stuck, it was stuck at home!

I’ve been staying home even though my neighborhood isn’t affected by the storm. I’ve sewn a couple of wine carriers (gifts), made a pair of felted wool mittens (gift) and have been trying some ideas for knitted necklaces. Soon l will be in my fleece pj’s and it isn’t even 7:00 pm yet!

Down here in W. Seneca, we are buried. I have been working on a revamp in my sewing room. Cleaned out the closet and stripped down all of the wallpaper. Can’t paint until I can get out to buy the paint! I’m putting together a new shelving unit for the room. As a result, can only do hand work right now. Good thing I have lots of binding to do.
I’m not snowed in here So I
put some things together into little bags…..the start of projects. Then when I’m looking for something to do, I can just grab a bag. I’ve done this in the past but it seems that all at once I go thru the 3 or 4 bags and need to start again……or decide I don’t like the bag.
Great idea. Kind of like making your own custom kits!
I’ve been in Florida since Oct 16th. Was supposed to fly home yesterday on Nov 20th, but flight was cancelled. Only flight I could get out was on Wednesday before Thanksgiving (the busiest fly day of year). I’ve been doing red work embroidery for a x-mas quilt. I’m bringing back sun, warm temps and smiles for all my dear friends
I hope we’ll get to see that quilt at a show and share. Is it for this Christmas?
